Dear <<&firstname>>,

Does the subject line above sound familiar? Reply to this email with the product it originally promoted and the year, to be entered in a drawing to win a deluxe ceramic MasterMine mug. The winner's name and company will be published in the next end-user email. Good luck, and no fair Googling! These attractive mugs that remind software users to record their work in GoldMine and to use MasterMine are now available for purchase! Just check out this link for ordering instructions: http://www.masterminevar.com/varmug.html

The winner of "I can't believe I ate the whole thing!" was Keith Mitchell, business manager for Concorde Communications in Los Angeles, CA. The correct answer was Alka Seltzer, 1972. Abbie Mantor, project development assistant for Aspen Group in Frankfort, IL, wrote, "When our architect (my phone-a-friend), guessed that Rolaids was the answer, the intern ruined it for me and Googled it! Darn interns! But at least I know the answer is Alka-Seltzer. Maybe next time!" Miranda While, sales assistant at Lyons Roofing in Phoenix, AZ, remembered the accompanying jingle, "Plop Plop Fizz Fizz. Oh, what a relief it is!" Stacie Cope, sales administrative assistant at Auto-Graphics Inc. in Pomona, CA, matter-of-factly answered that the product it promoted is "A 2008 Deluxe Ceramic MasterMine Mug." Who could argue with that?

Tips and Tricks with MasterMine

Who does NOT have an e-mail address?

Sometimes you need to isolate users who lack an e-mail address, especially if these are clients or hot prospects. Having a working e-mail address can be crucial for successful marketing or support.

If you are a SQL user of GoldMine, getting a list of those lacking an e-mail address is very easy:

1)    Create a basic "Prospect Analysis" or “Main Contact” report in MasterMine as you usually do under GoldMine’s “View” or Go To” menu.

2)    Click on "PrimaryEmailAddress" to include that pseudo-field.

3)    Then, in your report, pull the PrimaryEmailAddress field into the page area.

4)    Select the null item (the first one in the dropdown list).

5)    Drilling down will create a list of accounts with no email address.

If you are a dBase user of GoldMine, it's a little more tricky:

 1)  Run the "E-mail with Contact2" report, which is in the GoldMine Administrator toolkit. (Click "Templates," "GoldMine Administrator," then in the dropdown menu, select "E-mail with Contact2").

 2) This will give you a report of every user, whether they have an e-mail address or not.

 3) In the dropdown for the field in your column area, "Priority," uncheck "Primary" and "Secondary," which will leave only "None," meaning that the contact has no related e-mail address.

 4) That will leave a list of accounts with no e-mail address.
